SELECT DATABASE:? The default setting is ALL COUNTRIES, or you may select the country of your choice.

TRADITION and CLASSCODE : ? see the CLASSCODE CLASSIFICATION document available in ENGLISH or SPANISH, which is formatted in Adobe Acrobat Reader (.pdf)

Narrow your search by choosing one or more of the options listed in the left-hand column above.

After clicking on SEARCH with your mouse, the database you selected will be available on the screen; you may further narrow your search by selecting one or more of the options listed in the left-hand column above.

Also, you may SORT BY clicking on one of the items in the right-hand column above.

While viewing the selected database on your monitor, you may do ADDITIONAL SORTS by clicking on the appropriate column header.

FURTHER INFORMATION:
Most of the field names in the RITA database are self-explanatory, but a few of them need further definition:

EAR_5th = This is a cross-reference to the articles on religious groups listed in the Encyclopedia of American Religions (5th Edition), edited by Dr. J. Gordon Melton and published by Gale Research of Detroit, Michigan.

ORG_NAME = The organizational name of the denomination or group is first given in ENGLISH as a reference, but the actual name may be in SPANISH, PORTUGUESE or FRENCH, so these names are also given for greater clarity.

FOUNDER = The founder of the denomination or group in the country listed.

FOUNDING_DATE = This is the date the denomination or group was founded in the country listed.

LEADER_FNAME = The first name of the current chief official of the denomination or group in the country listed.

LEADER_LNAME = The last name of the current chief official of the denomination or group in the country listed.

LEADER_TITLE = The title of the current chief official of the denomination or group in the country listed.

MUNICIPIO_CANTON:? This field is needed in some countries, such as Costa Rica, where the geographical address of the headquarters office of the denomination or group requires the name of the MUNICIPALITY (MUNICIPIO) or COUNTY (CANTON).
